This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many of our students suffer from food insecurity, having a snack in my office helps them a lot. Poverty and hunger affects kids learning and behavior, my office is a safe space to sooth the body and the mind. A snack may look insignificant, but in reality provides peace of mind. Some kids feel no adults care, when I have a snack they know I care, it makes a difference in their life. I know I can not solve their problem but I know they know they can count on me.

I also teach them about emotions and how to handle them properly, having this materials will really help me accomplish that.

These materials will teach the children the actual emotional vocabulary, many just know 1 or 2 feelings when there is a wide array of them.
