My students need an iPad2 to learn healthy eating habits, to access recipes for cooking activities, and for creating media projects to share their learning with others.

My Students
Feed USA is providing funds for teachers to help their children learn how to choose and cook healthy foods. I would like my students to use technology to access this information and to share what they have learned with friends and family using an iPad2.
I teach Second grade in a very large elementary school with nearly 700 K-5 students in it.
There are five sections of each grade level. I have 22 students in my class who are very enthusiastic and eager to learn new things each day. They absolutely love using all forms of technology. However, education budgets are being severely cut in our state and it becomes increasingly difficult to get the newest technology for our students through the yearly budget process.
My Project
I applaud FEED USA for offering match offers to projects that will incorporate the teaching of healthy eating habits. Children definitely need to learn how to live healthy lives. I would like to have the students learn about healthy eating through websites and learning games. Once they have learned what they should eat each day, I would like to incorporate some cooking activities to teach them how to make healthy snacks. We will use the Internet to locate these recipes. Finally, I would like to have them share what they have learned by creating some type of multi-media presentation.
I am requesting an iPad2 and smart cover to help bring these lessons to my students.
My students need to learn how to be healthy eaters and how to stay healthy.
Obesity is such a BIG problem in our country, so teaching children how to make wise food choices is so important. My students enjoy using technology, and would absolutely love being able to use an iPad2 to do research and create projects to showcase what they have learned.
