Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom is located in Washington state at a Title I school. Students at my school are hardworking, kind, eager individuals. Many students are first and second generation citizens from Africa, South America, and Asia. About 42% of students qualify for English Language Learner services but up to 50% of students speak a language other than English in the home. Our differing cultures, backgrounds, economic statuses, and languages provide richness in the classroom, but we also face challenges. One challenge is that we are incredibly underfunded. At our school, 83% of students qualify for free or reduced school lunch.
There are so many experiences and learning opportunities I wish I could have with our students if only I had the means.
My Project
It is hard for children to do their best thinking and work when their tummies are grumbling and they're running on empty. Many of my students feel hungry throughout the day and I need your help to fix that.
My students need yummy and healthy snacks to help them refuel throughout the day.
Granola bars, healthy fruit snacks, pretzels, applesauce will help keep their brains functioning at full capacity. When students are no longer worried about getting food they can focus on learning and grow their brains. Please help bring these healthy snacks into my classroom by donating to this project.
