Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students do not come from the wealthiest families. They do not have the best things. They are low-income, immigrant families, mainly from Spanish-speaking countries. They work hard and care about education.
We live in NY and go to an NYC public school.
They try their best every day. The students all get free lunch and most of the supplies they have are the basics; pencils, paper, book bags, and the supplies needed for daily school life. I try to supply as much as I can to lift the burden of money from the families.
My Project
Proper energy is important in order to learn in school: snacks for special treats, snacks because the students are hungry or they missed a meal, and food if the child does not know when they will eat again.
These are the reasons I am asking for all the various foods and snacks to be distributed to the children as they need/want.
Knowing there will be a snack in class or a quick pick me up is an important thing. Imagine not knowing when your next meal was or having to wait five hours to eat.
