My students need essentials such as water, granola bars, and snacks to help them they focused in class.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Miss, I'm hungry. Do you have anything to eat?" I happened to have an apple on my desk left over from my lunch (Cliche? Yes.) and gave it to the student.
Without fail, I get asked at least twice a day if I have any snacks or food to share with my students.
While the majority of my students qualify for the free/reduced-price lunch program, most of them don't eat the food offered because of its appearance and lack of taste. Others don't have time to eat because they end up using their lunch period to make up a test or meet with a teacher about a class issue. By the time students get to my class, they are hungry. Hungry students make it difficult for me to teach - they are irritable and tired. Imagine if you had to write an essay or read Shakespeare and the last time you ate something was 12 hours ago at dinner?
My Project
For this proposal, I am requesting bottles of water for when my students are thirsty. As my school is a scanning school with metal detectors, students are not allowed to bring in outside beverages, making for really thirsty students. I've also requested snacks such as crackers and granola bars to help students stay focused when they are in class or when taking standardized tests. These three-hour exams are grueling, and something simple like a little snack can help them put forth their best effort. These basic life essentials will enable me to help my students stay awake and energized so they can master the content needed to pass the class and graduate high school.
No child should go hungry while in school.
With your help, my students will have access to water and snacks to help them stay awake, energized, and ready to learn. Thank you in advance for providing my students with life essentials!
