My Project
My students are inner-city kids in Pennsylvania and all receive free or reduced-price lunch and breakfast. Most face serious obstacles before they even walk through the doors in the morning. Our goal is to make our school a safe and loving environment. One of the things that helps the most is having snacks and drinks available in the classroom throughout the day. Something as simple as a slim jim, cookie, or a rice Krispie treat can change a child's outlook on the whole day. If a kid is hungry they can not focus.
