This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are energetic, enthusiastic, and hardworking. They come from a low socioeconomic area of New York, and they never allow their circumstances to dictate how their days should go despite how most of their days start. This year I work with a group of students that need exposure to a more rigorous curriculum.
All of my students' access to meet the grade requirements started off shaky, but they are making gains every day.
Through project based work, they will have every opportunity to meet and exceed the requirements.
My Project
I am requesting these books to add onto and build a library that my students would engage daily. My students are readers but the readers we have are outdated and they don't connect to the characters in our books. I would like to broaden their reading experiences by adding books they are intrinsically motivated to read independently. They are wanting to read more, but with our budget cuts I am unable to continue purchasing them titles of their choices to engage them in the reading practice work that will help them grow as readers and meet the state standards and excel.
