Faster Processor Is Better for Virtual Teaching!

Help me give my students a Dell Inspiron Laptop- Intel Core i7- that will allow me to do more tasks simultaneously during lessons such as accessing TEAMs platform, screen sharing, Nearpod, Reading Wonders, Powerpoint, Clever, Boom Learning, etc.

My Students

I have been teaching ESL full-time virtually for the most part of this year at a Title I school with 70% of students on free or reduced lunch. While it has proved very challenging for me and my students, what keeps me going is the enthusiasm, eagerness, and zest for life and energy of my students.

I am very proud of how my students show up and stick around for six hours of virtual learning everyday.

My ESL Kindergarten students have a family member with them at all times to help out with accessing websites, files, and platforms with my students and I. We are all learning and working together and it is a beautiful alliance.

Today, like some days, we have technical difficulties. I get kicked out of the platform, try to find my way back and like some days, this takes more than five or 10 minutes. Even so, when I get back on the platform, my students are still there, proclaiming "YEHEY", when they see me logged back on. Oh, how I love my cheerleaders!

My Project

A few months ago, my reliable school issued laptop I have had for over two years started making weird sounds that progressively got longer by the week. It finally gave up last week and now I am left using another older device which struggles under the weight of all the applications I have open during virtual teaching.

When I have a device with a faster processor to use during virtual and in-person teaching, it would lessen the number of "freezes" and other technical issues that have nothing to do with the wifi bandwidth available.

The i7 multitasking processor will allow me to perform multiple tasks during virtual classes. It means I can share my screen and also open applications and platforms with ease for a smoother lesson.

We will be able to get through our lesson for the day with no tension because we will have less technical issues to worry about other than server problems. Please support our classroom. It would help us tremendously and you would help contribute to my students' academic growth during this crucial time in their school lives.
