Help me give my students higher quality Zoom lessons, quicker feedback on their digital work, and more individualized differentiation with a new MacBook.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My 6th and 7th grade students at my all-girls public school are curious, funny, and thoughtful. I teach disabled students dealing with learning disabilities, speech and language difficulties, and other health impairments in integrated classrooms. They come from an under-resourced, low-income Black and Latinx community in the Bronx and deserve the highest quality education possible.
My Project
A new MacBook will help ensure my virtual classes run much more smoothly. My current laptop does not have enough memory to run Zoom without crashing. I am getting kicked out of Zoom at least 4-6 times per class, which stops the flow and progress of our instruction and discussions. I lag constantly for my students, which is especially difficult for my students with disabilities and my English Language Learners who need fluid instruction and reiteration of ideas to successfully develop their thinking. These technology issues and disruptions are impeding their learning.
I am committed to ensuring that my historically marginalized students get the highest-quality education possible, even while we are remote.
A faster laptop will allow us to have seamless live classes. A new MacBook will allow me to run multiple windows at once so I can give my students more instantaneous feedback on their digital work. I will also be able to share my screen more successfully during class, which will give my students more opportunities for individualized differentiation to target their specific learning needs.
Your donation would be transformative for me and my students. We are so grateful for you!
