Fast Feet, Happy Muscles: Recovery Gear for Young Alaskan Runners

Help me give my students massage guns, electrolyte drink mix, resistance bands, and other post-run recovery tools that will keep them healthy and injury free!

My Project

In the heart of remote Alaska, where tundra trails replace paved roads and the nearest sporting goods store is over 400 miles away, the our junior high cross country team is chasing more than finish lines — they are pursuing strong, healthy futures.

Please help us equip our young runners with the tools they need to run strong, recover smart, and continue chasing their goals.

Running may be simple, but staying healthy while doing it isn’t always easy, especially for young athletes whose bodies are still growing. That’s why we’re asking for your support to bring essential post-run recovery gear to our team. With tools like foam rollers, massage sticks, resistance bands, and electrolyte mix, we can teach our junior high runners the other half of running: warming up, cooling down, and recovering right.

These routines aren’t just add-ons; they’re game changers. When young athletes learn to care for their bodies early on, they prevent injuries, improve their performance, and develop habits that last a lifetime.

Our goal is to create a team culture where recovery is as second nature as tying your laces. This grant will help us turn every practice into an opportunity to build resilience, reduce injuries, and empower kids to take charge of their physical well-being, on and off the trail.
