My Project

Our classroom is cultivating self-reliance, innovation, and sustainability. This project will allow students to transform farm produce into value-added products like essential oils, hydrosols, natural soaps, lotions, candles, and room sprays.

Through this hands-on experience, students will reduce food waste, use sustainable methods, and create market-ready products, building a connection to the land while gaining STEM skills.

What We Need:

We need funding for an essential oil distiller, storage containers, farm tools, and quality control equipment. These resources will help students learn the process of extracting oils and hydrosols from farm produce like herbs and citrus peels, and explore product testing and safety.

The Impact:

Our students face challenges like economic hardship and limited access to experiential learning. This project will teach them the value of what they grow, foster entrepreneurship, and empower them to be environmental stewards. By focusing on reduce-reuse-recycle, farm-to-market, and food waste reduction, students will gain valuable STEM knowledge and life skills that promote community sustainability.

Activities:

- Food-Waste Reduction: Students will transform surplus farm produce into essential oils and hydrosols.

- STEM & Sustainability: Engaging in the distillation process will connect chemistry, biology, and physics to practical applications.

- Entrepreneurship: Students will create value-added products, such as natural soaps, lotions, and room sprays, to potentially sell at local markets.
