This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This year, our middle school students have the unique opportunity to have a complete a farm to table elective experience! WMS is starting up a new program that introduces students to growing their own fresh, organic produce in our school gardens, and allowing students to plan and care for plants from seedling to producing plant. We also get to harvest our own food, plan menus, cook and eat our own delicious, fresh produce. From salads and bruschetta to full on meals, our kids get to grow and cook!
In the garden, kids will be hands-on, working with the soil and plants daily.
As this is a new elective, I'm building a program from the ground up, and need all the tools gardeners need to plant, tend, and harvest. We're so excited to get started!
