My Project
Jeanne Watasuki was only seven years old when her and her family were placed in the Manzanar Japanese American Internment Camp. Jeanne's memoir details her life growing up in a prison camp in a time where Japanese Americans were stripped of all rights regardless of their American citizenry. In addition, the memoir details how Jeanne's trauma impacted her identity throughout her life.
Farewell to Manzanar is a powerful lesson in the dangers of racist thought and fear that is relevant now more than ever.
Through your donation, I will be able to teach this novel for years to come, so that Jeanne's story is never forgotten and that era of history never repeats itself.
