Help me give my students items that will make their time at home during distance learning a bit more bearable. Books to read, pencils cases, markers, and workbooks will make these scholars so happy.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Due to this awful virus, our school is now in full distance learning mode. My student's entire world just got turned upside down and everything they once knew as normal is now no longer. Remote learning and school being closed has really impacted my students both academically and personally.
My students thrive off of peer interaction and that has now been ripped away due to the closing of our school for safety purposes.
A lot of my students have had family members pass away, or been critically ill due to the virus. Some students have parents who have lost their job and they don't know how to deal with these feelings.
We meet weekly to check in through video conferencing and you can see on my students' faces that they miss each other, they miss me, they miss normalcy.
My Project
This project would give my students such a mood boost! To know that they would have their very own notebook, books to read, and journals would make them so happy. When the announcement came that school would be closed, we had nothing with us.
There was no time to say goodbye, to give each other hugs, to tell them it will all be ok, or to take any of our supplies.
Giving them these supplies would be such a big help to kids that have the biggest hearts! They treasure everything that is given to them and I know that these items will make their time at home, no matter their living situation, a little bit sweeter.
