My Students

Fantasy allows your imagination to take you on a wonderful ride where you are in control. I would love for my students to experience this exhilarating feeling.

I have a class full of students who love to read.

They read at different levels, but they all share a love for books. Recently I introduced them to the fantasy genre, and they truly enjoyed it. They are requesting more fantasy novels for the library, as well as during my read aloud. When you have kids begging you for books, how can you turn them down?

My Project

The Tale of Despereaux is a wonderful fantasy novel. This engaging story makes you believe in the impossible. You really root for the protagonist. This book is great for teaching theme and character analysis. The villain is the way he is only because he lost sight of his dream. I believe this book will spark some great conversation. There are some wonderful character education elements in it as well. The book teaches you that heroes come in all shapes and sizes and that it is okay to be different because your differences are what make you special. I believe my kids will really relate to the characters and underlying themes in the novel.

The Tale of Despereaux will satisfy my students' fantasy craving.

I look forward to seeing their eyes light up as this novel takes them on a wonderful journey. I am certain they will fall in love with the main character, as they will fall in love with this book. Reinforcing reading skills with an enchanting novel, it doesn't get any better than that!
