This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Hello from our fabulous first grade classroom! My class includes some very excited and nervous first graders. They come from low-income homes and most of them are ESL students. My students are polite and kind and they need your support.

Many of my students will come to class on the first day of school with no supplies. My principal will give us what she can, but with 700+ students it is left up to the teachers much of the time to supply things like folders, index cards, and glue sticks. I am asking for your help in getting these things for my students so they can start the year off right.

I want every student to come in on the first day and know they have what they need to do their big job (learn). We need some supplies like paper, pencils, folders, index cards, and glue sticks so I can make homework folders and flashcards for my students. They use the paper to make journals and flip books. I am also requesting some math games and puzzles for students who finish their work quickly to use while I help students that need more time or extra instruction.

Your help will ensure that my students have a wonderful first day of school. They will make things and learn words and draw pictures and play learning games. They will learn how to be organized and have a fabulous first and second and third day of school!
