Fantasia of the Phoenix

Help me give my students a way to print, present, and preserve their art, whether created digitally or on paper. I also want to be able to develop re-useable reference sheets, visual aids, and informational materials.

My Project

My goals for this project are to continue to encourage the artistic expression of my students and reward them by having their work presented in color and in a way that can be preserved. With the color printer and laminator, we can even print digital photos of performances, and 3-D art forms to be displayed in the hall or classroom. I also want to create visual aids for students to refer to. We have a school-wide theme of "Beauty" for this first semester, and I want lots of colorful student contributions displayed expressing their ideas of what beauty is and how we observe it.

The laminator will also allow me to create manipulatives that will be long-lasting and can be used in multiple classes.

The engagement level of students is higher when they are physically interacting with materials and with each other. With our theme of beauty, I am hoping to create cards with samples of art from a variety of cultures across history and have students record observations about things that are unique to each example. I would like the students to create a card game, similar to the "Magic" game using people, pieces of technology, and places from world history. Making the final product feel "legit" will give the students a higher sense of ownership and achievement.
