About My Students

Delaney, Joshua, Xavier and Zoey are all members of our HYPE group.

When I surveyed my students and asked what could improve their gym they requested fans. That way that they can cool down during gym and before having to go back to class. As the weather will begin to warm up so will our gymnasium! Although the school is air conditioned our gym is not. We do not have any windows in our gym so circulating air is a big issue. When it gets hot outside the temperature in the gymnasium can become almost unbearable.

The new fans will allow my students to be able to continue to participate in teamwork activities, sports and games. If my students have a way to cool down they will be more likely to participate in activities when they begin to sweat or get hot. I don't want my students to become discouraged in being physically active because they become sweaty and don't have a way to cool down.

In Their Own Words

We want two fans for a school gym so that air can be circulated. Good air quality is important. We currently have no windows to open and no fans to circulate air. The fans would benefit all of the students and help create an environment conducive to learning.

Our school is starting a HYPE group. This is a Health and Wellness group for students. We focus on identifying health and wellness issues within our school that need to addressed. This is our first issue we have identified. This is a way for us to enhance the educational experience of everyone who uses the gym space. Help us circulate air in our gym to keep everyone cooled down!

We will resolve the issue of circulating air in our gym space. Our school was built back in the 60's and the building design did not include any windows in the gym. There is no way create a breeze or get fresh air in our gym. The fans will help make the gym experience a more positive one for everyone who uses the space!
