My Students
Our school is made up of grades Pre-K through 5th grade. We have general education students as well as special education students and ELL students new to our country. So we have a wide range of performance levels in each of our classrooms.
Our neighborhood is comprised of low-income families, and many of our students live in public housing.
One hundred percent of our students receive free lunch, and quite a few of our students are currently living in homeless shelters. Our small school is located in the neighborhood of Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn, New York, and we are a Title I school. We are aware that many of our students are performing below grade level, so we need a variety of resources to meet their needs.
My Project
Our school is mostly made up of underprivileged students who are learning remotely using iPads given to them through the DOE. Unfortunately, the students struggle to write on their iPads due to the small screens.
Stylus pens would help students write neatly and maintain the skills lost by using touchscreens to do all their work!
This is a fun way for students to engage in lessons that involve not only writing but all subject areas.
These pens would also benefit our special needs community, who are kinesthetic learners! They will able to use the pens without becoming frustrated with their work.
