Family Paint Night: Reflecting on Kindness through Art!

My students need canvases, paint brushes and acrylic paints for our family paint night! These items will help students create works of art with their families about what kindness looks like at school and at home.

My Students

My school is located in Washington DC and serves students with high socioeconomic needs. Students who attend my school bring with them their heritages from Ethiopia, Central America, along with other nationalities. We are a community school that services families who live within walking distance of our school. This year, my school is trying to improve family engagement. Through our Kindness Challenge grant, we would like to foster greater engagement between families and our school community. This year, we are organizing our first ever Paint Night between students and their families!

During our Paint Night, students and their families will be encouraged to paint images of what kindness looks like within their homes and school community!

These paintings will be hung up all around our school so that students and their families feel a greater sense of belonging within our school community.

My Project

These materials will help my school launch its first ever Family Paint Night! The canvases, paint brushes and paints in this project will allow our students to create personalized paintings about what kindness looks like, sounds like and feels to them. As a school, we are working hard to increase parental involvement within our school community.

Already, more than 80 families have signed up to paint with their children for our Paint Night on June 4th!

By donating supplies to this cause, our students and their families will have a very special opportunity to bond with one another and our school community!
