Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I work in a public school system where I teach deaf and hard of hearing children. More than half of my students come from economically disadvantaged families. My students are eager to learn but the obstacles presented by their hearing loss often frustrate them. For this reason, I love to involve their parents and family members as much as possible.
My students learn best when the lessons are continued at home by their families.
The device I am requesting will be used to make online lessons for my deaf and hard-of-hearing students. I will record language-rich lessons that will support students and their families outside school hours. I will film authentic materials to share with my students’ families. The videos will help my students understand the targeted vocabulary and its application in real-life scenarios. Therefore, I launch this project to raise money to purchase a device for me and my students.
I want to enrich the families' learning experience by creating a learning platform for every student and family to access the videos anytime and anywhere.
