My Students

What makes my students special? They have me for a teacher! This is my second year teaching and my students 6th year in school. My students come from a community that is in need. The school is the only place where I can address their needs and put them first. But meeting needs is not something I can do alone. It takes a village to raise a child, therefore it takes a community to help a classroom.

I believe that all children are capable of learning and deserve the tools to make learning possible.

At our school, we are committed to doing whatever it takes to ensure student academic and social-emotional growth while providing equal educational opportunities in a safe and nurturing learning environment.

My Project

When your school is a Kindergarten to 8th-grade building you come across children with all different interests. And who is behind those children? Awesome, supportive families! As a proud 5th grade teacher, member of the PTO, and Vice President of the PTO, parental involvement is a huge push this year.

It takes a village to raise a child, and that village can only exist with a relationship.

By hosting a Family Fun Night we hope to bring families to the school, have them play games with teachers and other staff, and build those relationships that help teachers and families learn to trust each other.

With these materials, we hope to host a family game and craft night. We would like to have various board games for students to play with family members and staff members. There are games for the little Kindergarteners to play such as Chutes and Ladders and Don't Break the Ice. There are also games for the Eight Graders such as Apples to Apples and the Game of Life.

In addition, there are craft items so we can have a table of crafts. Such as popsicle sticks for wall art and paints to decorate them.

In building relationships, we hope there will be more family involvement with future educational endeavors and an open pathway for communication.
