My Students

My Family and Consumer Sciences classroom is not like the Home Economics classes that you may remember. My students spend their time learning hands-on career skills that carry over into their everyday lives.

The Fe Cafe is a student-run cafe that is open a couple of days a week and serves various pastries, coffees, and teacher lunches.

My students work very hard to make the cafe a success. They are proud of the products that they sell and passionate about making our customers happy.

My Project

We currently have 55-minute class periods. This limits what cooking methods I can teach my culinary students. We do our best to complete a dish and clean up before the bell, but it can be very difficult. Families have the same issue. No one wants to come home from work and spend over an hour making dinner.

By having two Instant Pot pressure cookers/air fryers combo in the classroom, I would be able to teach students how to make quick, flavorful dishes to share with their families.

It would also teach students about culinary industry trends and give them a new skill for their portfolio.
