My Students
Leading educational theorist Jean Piaget once said, "The principle goal of education in the schools should be creating men and women who are capable of doing new things, not simply repeating what other generations have done."
I have 30 wonderfully intelligent 5th grade students who are ready to learn and conquer any task.
Our district motto is "expect to excel." My students expect to excel in their academic lives as well as their personal life. My goal is to give them the tools to truly excel and create new things.
My Project
Do you remember the first series you fell in love with? For me, my love of reading came when I found The Magic Treehouse books. I couldn't wait to see what adventures Jack and Annie would go on next. Many of us can trace our love for reading back to a specific series that piqued our interest.
This grant will allow my students the opportunity to fall in love with reading by diversifying our class library with new series.
I am striving to build a community of learners by first creating a community of readers. What readers need most is books! I'm hoping to give my students better access to high interest books.
