This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Bridge to Terabithia is one of my favorite books to read with the class. We always get so involved in the story, and sometimes like to act it out! This is a book that helps my students pass the avid readers test!
The only reading test that matters in my class, is the test to show if you love reading.
1) Do you read under your desk when you think the teacher isn't looking because you can't wait to get to the next part? 2) Do you get into trouble for reading at the dinner table? 3) Do you read under the covers with a flashlight after you are told to go to bed? This is the test I want my students to pass, and Bridge to Terabithia is a book that helps them get there!
My Project
We need to inspire our children to love to read, and reading and discussing a book together is the greatest way to do that. The most effective way to do this though is to have a copy of the book for every student to follow along with. This way they are reading along to a terrific book, instead of absentmindedly listening.
If every child has their own copy, it will help them fall in love with the book.
They will be able to take it home and read it whenever they want. They will be able to go back to their favorite scene, or something they had trouble with and re-read. They will be able to read ahead and prepare ideas for discussions. It will help them LOVE to read! Your help will make this possible for my students! Help them pass the only reading test that matters, and fall for Bridge to Terabithia!
