My Students

My students come from a wide variety of social and economical backgrounds. For many of them, it is the first time being away from their parents. So, I have made it my priority to create a loving and welcoming classroom community where each child feels important and valued every day.

My students are eager to learn, explore, understand, play and build relationships.

It is important they are shown examples of positive social and emotional interactions and coping strategies. Pre-K sets the foundation for each child's education and is the year children begin to figure out who they are and how to express their feelings, needs, and wants. It is also the year in which early literacy and mathematical skills are taught and a firm foundation is laid so each child can become a lifelong learner. Students continue to develop their fine motor and gross motor skills during play based lessons and activities. Lessons are hands on and engaging to ensure each child learns in the way that is best for them.

My Project

My students need books about apples, pumpkins, leaves and Thanksgiving for our fall units. These books will allow my students to build their literacy skills, and engage in science concepts while learning about things they enjoy!

Science and literacy skills will be integrated in fall units to allow students to think critically and ask Who, what, when, why and how questions!

Students will learn the differences between fiction and nonfiction when comparing the books “ Pumpkin Soup” and “Pumpkin Circle”. Students will use STEM skills after reading “Leaf Man” to create their own leaf man out of various objects in nature. The books “Turkey Trouble and Little Boo” will help students with character identification, comprehension and retelling skills.
