Welcome to Middle School ! In our class, we have a morning mantra "We gain more knowledge, we're on our way to college!" Everyday, I get to teach and love a group of 120 6th, 7th and 8th graders who love to learn, think and make mistakes. We learn from each other in our journey to get to college.
My students are amazing middle schoolers who live in the inner city of Chicago.
My students come to school everyday ready to learn and grow. To them, school is a safe haven, where they can depend on getting a hot meal, positive social interactions and love from their teacher.
My Project
Everyone needs a good book! Reading is essential to fostering the imagination and the interest of students. My students will benefit from reading great books in many ways. My students love to read and love to learn about new things. New books would help my students continue their love for reading and writing. We are requesting titles which include Flying Lessons and Other Stories, Harry Potter, Wonderstruck, The Crossover and more.
Imagine spending the afternoon curled up with a great book.
My students would be able to choose a book at their level, and spend their reading time with a new book. We would also use the books to for literature circles and book studies. The books will also allow students to recommend other books to their peers or anyone outside of the classroom.
Fostering the love of reading is key to creating the future leaders. My students have vivid imaginations and big dreams. These books would allow for my students to learn more about the world and to travel to any place, in a great book!
