My Students
My students are incredible. I could never describe them in one word. They are students that come from low-income families and have a wide range of special needs.
These students never let their disability stop them from reaching their goals.
They work hard, harder than an average student. We have a lot of fun together and they truly are "my kids". They make me want to be a better teacher everyday and I am always looking for ways to help them.
My Project
Middle school students often wonder who they are and where they fit into the mix. Special Education Middle School students find it even harder to find where they fit in. The book Wonder by R.J Palacio tackles the topic of fitting in and being kind.
"When given the choice between being right or being kind, choose kind." Every child should be given the opportunity to read this amazing book about a boy named Auggie who doesn't quite fit in.
This book touches on so many themes that I feel that it is a must read for any middle school student.
We need a class set of the book Wonder so that we can read it as a class and discuss the ideas about being kind to everyone.
