This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

MY STUDENTS

Our students' motto is The Knights, and our school building is called the Castle.

As knights, my students are brave and hard workers, but when it comes to talking in the target language (Spanish) in public, they become afraid to make mistakes, especially being embarrassed.

In an era where social media is so important to our students, my goal is to use their love for social media to help them improve their Spanish-speaking skills. From experience, I know students are more willing to try speaking in the target language in a private setting or on video but not in front of everybody.

MY PROJECT

This semester my students are going to get the tools to write Spanish at a mid-novice level to create the content of their own (fake) influencer show speaking completely in Spanish. This project will help their mental health by easing the stress that presenting and speaking in public causes. This will also help them practice their Spanish speaking and writing skills in a real-world experience.

Getting a camcorder and tripod will help the students get the tools they need to record their influencer show at the school without the pressure of being in front of their classmates. Recording in the classroom will ensure the students will get the supervision and support needed from their teacher.
