My Students
"Education is the most important weapon we can use to change the world,"-Nelson Mandela. My students are a sweet group of Firsties who come from many different countries around the world, including Africa, Palestine, Iraq, Brazil, China, Japan and the Dominican Republic. They are an excited and eager bunch! A portion of my students qualify for refugee status and coming to America has been exciting and overwhelming as they adapt and learn the language and customs. Many are first generation English speakers.
My Project
STEM education creates critical thinkers and increases literacy in science and math. STEM education is important because it will allow my students to use real life application to show them how what they learn in school benefits them and others by exploring complex questions and develop solutions for complex problems. Fairy Tale Stem Kits will allow my students to explore the ideas of STEM with familiar stories. STEM stories will excite them. Learning STEM will allow my students to do more than just learn. They will be able to work together and share ideas with one another.
