My Students

The universe is a conglomeration of unique planets and stars arranged into galaxies and solar systems that are awe-inspiring! My 19 students are the same: constantly moving, shifting, and growing into beings that come together to form something beautiful.

The kindergarten students in my school district come from a wonderful variety of cultures and backgrounds.

Throughout the year we learn about each other's family traditions, special holidays and celebrate them. Despite their wonderful differences, the students need to know they belong and are loved in our classroom. We are a team working together toward the same goals.

I look forward to creating an atmosphere that fosters acceptance and collaboration for these wonderful kindergarten minds.

My Project

This past school year, I have really made it a main focus of mine to help my students work on their mental health and being able to communicate in a respectable way. We've had many lessons and read a lot of books to help us find our "Zen." Fairy Dust Teaching is one of the only teacher resource pages that I have found, that is offering an opportunity for early childhood teachers that will be perfect for helping with my classroom environment. They are offering online professional development for teachers who are interested in learning more ways to incorporate play and a more statutable classroom environment to work in. The professional development session that I am interested in is called "The Third Teacher Bootcamp." There are eight different trainings that all touch on different aspects of the classroom.

All 8 trainings touch on the power of your classroom environment and how to transform it into a better environment for your students and yourself.

These trainings don't touch on how glamorous your classroom should look, but on the basics that you need. They also teach about the textures, colors, and lighting that play and effect on our kiddos. We also know that sometimes our classroom resources are limited, one of the trainings shows us how to use nature to help enhance our kiddos learning.

My school district is very aware of the trauma our students have and could be facing. We have lots of opportunities for learning how to handle those types of situations. Being able to have the knowledge to change the way my classroom environment is one bigger step for me.
