My Project
Our district serves 200 students, 9th-12th grade. As a smaller public school, we often cannot afford resources to best meet the needs of our diverse student body. For the past few years, I have been revitalizing old curriculum with a focus on building crucial 21st century learning skills, especially when it comes to the integration of technology as a learning tool.
With the rapid advancements in AI, deep fakes, and misinformation, the most essential skill for students to hone is their ability to discern credible information.
Students today have a wealth of information at their fingertips. At any given time, students can type a prompt into any A.I. generator, and within seconds, receive a barrage of information pulled from potentially thousands of sources across the internet; while this technology is impressive, the AI makes no promises that the information pulled is from credible, valid sources or that the claims provided are completely supported and free from bias. This is why it is essential for educators to incorporate the skill of critically evaluating sources into every research assignment.
Unfortunately, I am limited by time and resources when it comes to creating authentic lessons and assessments that can keep pace with these constant advancements in A.I. that are currently gaining momentum in the academic sphere. This is where YOU can help by donating TPT gift cards to my classroom. With these TPT gift cards, I am hoping to revitalize our curriculum and engage students by offering more opportunities to practice and perfect these essential skills.
It is my job to prepare these students for an ever-changing, globalized society, and I believe these resources will assist me in this venture.
