This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are full of wonder about what they will learn in school each day. Our students are from low-income families and receive free or reduced cost breakfast and lunch throughout the year. Many of our students come from a Spanish speaking background or any number of other languages. Imagine coming to a new country and a new school and having no idea what is going on; for many of our students, that is what school is like.

Our students walk into class every day with a smile on their face, and they are eager and willing to participate and learn.

My Project

Reflex Math is a wonderful resource for my students to use. My students LOVE Reflex because of the games and I love Reflex because it helps them with their fluency and they are learning without even knowing it! We have used Reflex for years now and you can really see the growth when students use the program every day, as we do. Reflex Math goes beyond the typical drill and kill methods. It has combined educational purpose, technology, and gaming. They recognized that children are motivated by games, competition, and acknowledgment. Reflex Math allows educators, parents, and children to monitor their progress, and provides embedded rewards (tokens) and certificates of completion.
