Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Students love to write and draw using different media. Teachers love to see what their students know. Why not have both?
I teach at a very diverse multicultural school.
We are a title one school with over 29 languages represented on our campus. In my first grade class all of my students are bilingual, with four different languages represented. My first graders love reading, math, science and technology. They get excited when we are able to experience new learning through different types of media. When plain paper gets a bit tedious why not use fun and functional white boards? Our school is in a low income neighborhood but full of eager, creative learners. In our district our goal is to have all children excelling and ready for college. We follow the common core standards to ensure that all students are getting the same quality education.
My Project
With whiteboards, colored markers and efficient erasers my students will be highly engaged and get to show me what they know. We use whiteboards to solve math equations, check for understanding, and display creativity. Colorful markers keep the children engaged and eager to learn. It is just another way to stay green and cut down on paper use.
My students love to show me how brilliant they are.
A quick look at a whiteboard helps me see if I need to model more, reteach or release the kids to their independent learning. All children have their favorite colors so whiteboard markers and erasers help to enhance motivation and desire to learn.
