My Students

Who doesn't love to dance? Our students do! Our dance program is back and our students need dance shoes! I teach dance to all of the students in our school; which is about 550 Pre-Kindergarten to fifth grade dancers!

Our students come from diverse backgrounds and for some of them this is their only exposure to dance.

Dance has become an outlet for all of our students. While dancing in my class, they get the opportunity to move, create, improvise, express themselves and work collaboratively with their peers. At the end of each semester, all of our students will have the opportunity to shine on stage!

My Project

My students were so excited that we received our 20 pairs of dance shoes from my first Donors Choose project! However, I have so many dancers that are still without shoes! I am requesting more dance shoes for our students so that they are truly able to feel like dancers! These shoes will be worn by the students for classes, rehearsals and for all culminating performances. Currently, most of our students dance barefoot or in their socks while in class.

Dance shoes will continue to benefit our students by reinforcing proper technique and prevent them from slipping and sliding.

While performing on stage, our students have been dancing in sneakers. Making it difficult to move around. Having dance shoes will enable our students to move around freely and without restrictions.

I am working on my goal of outfitting our entire school with dance shoes!
