I currently teach in a high-need area in a large city. My school is one of the many schools currently in need of supplies and donations. I am a third grade teacher that is wanting to make a difference in the lives of our youth.
There is currently a project going on in our school district to screen our students for vision problems. My students have been screened and I am surprised by the amount of children who can not see properly. These children's families do not seem to have the means to purchase the necessary glasses these children need. A lot of what goes on in every classroom is almost completely visual and if a student cannot see a demonstration he or she is already at a huge disadvantage.
The Visual Presenter is a piece of technology that takes a small object and magnifies it for an entire class to see. This Presenter will allow all children to view classroom demonstrations and benefit from the increased size of written materials. This Visual Presenter also contains a microphone that will amplify the teacher's voice so that the students will be able to clearly hear and understand.
Your very generous donation will help me to engage all students by holding their attention and providing them with an enlarged demonstration. We have to figure out ways to help all of these children. We will continue to encourage their family members to purchase glasses but in the meantime we cannot sit back and just wait. With this Visual Presenter students will be able to see and learn.
