This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are enthusiastic and excited to learn! Many are bilingual and some are transitioning to the English language from Spanish. They all work as a team and help each other navigate 4th grade with a great attitude. My students are caring and funny. They see the bright side of life and their can-do attitude motivates me to teach them with enthusiasm. The smallest things excite them: science experiments, Popsicles, the computer lab and recess! The sky is the limit, with your help.
My Project
Our classroom is a small portable building. I see groups of 23 students at a time on a daily basis. Their desks are next to each other. This is not ideal for testing, concentrating, and reading. The students get distracted. Some rush when they see that others are finished with a test. They also get distracted by students working with iPads next to them as they are completing an assignment. The beauty of these screens is that I can see them and they can see me but they are better able to concentrate, read and focus.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
