it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This telescope will be used with my AP Environmental Science students on our annual field trip to Yosemite National Park. Every Winter, I take a group of about 50-60 AP Environmental Science students (high school juniors and seniors) to attend a program run by Nature Bridge. Students spend a week in the Yosemite valley to explore and appreciate nature, develop interpersonal skills, and have fun.
Since our school is in a suburb, we are constantly covered with light pollution and most of my students never get to see the stars at night.
This request for a telescope will align perfectly with this field trip since we spend time outdoors in the evening trying to seek out different constellations and planets.
This telescope would give us better access to viewing the different starts at night and would really help my students get excited at learning more about astronomy. This trip is amazing and a once in a lifetime opportunity, and I want to make this experience that much more special by revealing the wonders of the night sky for them as well.
