Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am part of the Head Start Program, which provides services to families with low socioeconomic status. These families and students are low-income and predominantly receive free or reduced-price lunch. With that being said, my students have very few resources to explore their surroundings. These children are always curious when something new is being brought into the classroom. At such a young age, they need to be exposed to so many different aspects of life, which they can pursue in the future.
My Project
It’s very important for children to be active and providing different materials such as the package with the balls, hula hoops can help them. Our students need to be challenged while playing outside.
Incorporating the balance beam will allow them to work on their balance and coordination.
Using the cones for relay races or to make up an obstacle will given them the opportunity to be more active.
Using the pogo sticks will provide most with an experience they are not used to. They will need to work on their balance to focus on staying on the pogo sticks. This will make it fun and interactive, as well work together as a team when doing a relay course.
