Exuberant Brain Growth with Recorders!

My students need recorders to provide a musical brain break during their 90 minute math block to promote exuberant neurogenesis and increased JOY!

My Students

My students are Lakota youth who live on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. These beautiful fifth graders strive their best to balance life amidst a beautiful culture and challenging issues. Their fifth grade minds are growing so fast. My hope as their math teacher is to inspire them to work hard and to believe in the power of themselves!

Here on Pine Ridge, things can be tough.

These students need the resilience to become the problem solvers of their tribe(s), the country, and Our beautiful Mother Earth. Being supported by caring individuals from many different communities will teach them more about the LOVE in this world. These children deserve to have the best education possible!

My Project

These recorders will make a big difference in the learning, motivation, engagement, short term to long term memory conversion, and joy. As a math teacher, 90 minutes for math is a great gift. My students perform below grade level and need an efficient and exciting way to stay engage and retain new information. Music will be a mini lesson in the middle of the math lessons and projects.

Learning how to play music strengthens math skills!

Music in many ways is math. Playing music will give students' brains an exciting way to grow more brain cells and connections. According to www.brainbalancecenters.com, studies show that children who play instruments are able to complete complex mathematical problems better than peers who do not play instruments. These recorders come with a learning guide and every student will have their very own instrument. These Lakota children merit a chance to thrive in the math classroom.
