This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The materials on the project list include: games, books, cleaning supplies, classroom materials, and wellness items for students. I'll start with games! The card and board games on my list are crucial for giving my students interactive time with their peers. Many of my students have not fully recovered from the social deficit of the pandemic and struggle to make friends. The games will give them a structured way for them to gain valuable social interaction time. I am a Special Education teacher who teaches Foundational English classes. The books on my list are engaging and unintimidating, and they will give my students a fun way to improve their literacy skills. Cleaning supplies will help keep the classroom clean as different sets of students come in and out throughout the day. The large sticky posters will help me to craft more interactive lessons that get students out of their seats to work with a team. Wellness items like fidget toys, headphones, and the lamp will help me to create a space for students who are overly stimulated and need a brief moment to decompress. Finally, I have air freshners on there because my room is not well ventilated and can get smelly as the day goes on. Students complain about it almost daily and it is a constant distraction.
