Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are an inner city school in the center of downtown Phoenix. The focus of our school is science and math (STEAM). Learning is project based and students are taught to be problem solvers, seeking solutions not just directions of what they should do. We value critical thinking, creativity, and community.

My 12th grade physics students are creative, academically talented and always in need of new hands-on challenges.

Thank you for supporting their education and future. We are a Title I school and many of my students are low income with limited resources. But they are all college bound. We have a strong college prep program and these students are ready to take their learning to the next level. These projects give them the confidence to dream big.

My Project

My students will be learning about digital photography and data storage. The will be creating Raspberry Pi camera sets in order to create rad cameras. Projects will include but not be limited to a night vision camera, infrared astrophotography, high altitude weather balloon photography.

The pictures they will take with these cameras will literally be out of this world!

My physics students will be learning digital photography, electronic circuits, computer coding, astronomy, atmospheric science, engineering design and much more. Many of my student plan to major in engineering in college. These projects are multifaceted and will challenge them to be problem solvers and to think outside the box.
