Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are an inner-city school that serves a Latinx and Black student population. The majority of students qualify for free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch. Our classroom supports a range of talented students including English learners and students with exceptionalities.
Our students live in an underserved part of our city and are a diverse group of learners.
They come to school to learn and participate even when the harmful choices and the inaction of our elected officials create extra hurdles to their success.
My Project
This project includes supplies to promote safety and to organize my classroom.
Masks help keep students safe.
Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for me to hear a student knocking at my door and see them holding a broken mask to their face. I have given out most of the masks from my last project. These masks and the disinfecting wipes will help me keep students safe from COVID-19.
The other materials in this project will help me organize my classroom. I plan to use the pocket folders to create a portfolio for each student. The file cabinet will hold this work, which will allow me and students to easily reference their learning growth.
