My Project
AR (Accelerated Reader) goals are designed to motivate students to read more, improve reading comprehension, and develop better reading skills. They help students track their progress, set personalized targets, and increase reading volume, which in turn enhances reading stamina, word recognition, and overall language comprehension.
My gifted students are given the option to be in our "Extra" Club.
If students read books on grade level and reach their reading goal, then they can be in the club for that 9 weeks. This permits them to help with school functions like passing out candy for trick or treating, hiding eggs for pre-K students, or just eating lunch with me in the classroom.
With my students this has not just encouraged reading but also helped increase task commitment and perseverance toward a goal. I want to provide them with extrinsic rewards, including books, bookmarks and treats. These extra incentives will lead to more reading, learning and deeper thinking.
