My Project

My students all come from low-economic status. They live in a rural community. Many of my students have academic deficits. Despite their economical shortcomings, they work hard and strive for success. With that being said, I want to give them learning materials that reinforce what we are doing in class but also pique their interest. The requested material will enable me to do just that.

My students will practice writing (sentence structure, grammar, etc.) during center rotations.

We will focus on enhancing their writing to make it more vivid and interesting. Many of my students still struggle with basic grammar rules and sentence structure. The writing center will allow them to get extra practice in those deficit areas. The lack of basic foundational skills is also a problem. The phonics phones will serve two purposes. They will be used for phonics instruction with my struggling students. The phones allow the students to hear themselves as they make sounds. They will also be used to build fluency. It's one thing for the students to listen to someone else read fluently but another for them to hear themselves.
