This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
These fourth grade students have had the opportunity to read a Scholastic News article and couldn't get enough! Scholastic News has proven time and time again to be an exciting way for students to get interested in informational/expository text. It helps students become successful comprehensive readers by having them examine and refer back to the text to find the answers to the questions. In my classroom, it is also used for writing in the genres of narrative, informative, and opinion. The relevant articles and topics lead to great discussions as well. This will enhance student learning and motivate students to read more types of texts. Reading the news will help promote become lifelong readers. The exposure and practice of the cross-curricular aspects of math, writing, social studies, and science with the emphasis on reading provided by Scholastic News are invaluable to the students and their education. Please help these students grow as scholars by fulfilling this for them.
