My Students

The upcoming third grade students are a lovely bunch of curious, active, and critical thinkers. They are aspiring world travelers, scientists, entrepreneurs, activists, and teachers to name a few. They are all from various socioeconomic backgrounds, with a majority who struggle to gain access to what others may take for granted.

In our classrooms, we strive to allow all students the same opportunities and expose them to a wide variety of literacy resources that meet their desired interests.

We believe that students are empowered when they feel confident and providing them with differentiated resources is a key factor to their academic success. Since these children are our future, it is essential that as educators, we provide them with a well-rounded curriculum that promotes a love for learning while also teaches them how to be positive global citizens.

My Project

With the new Common Core Learning Standards focusing on non-fiction texts and higher order thinking, it is essential that each child know how to read and respond to this important genre. Since they are at various academic levels and have a wide range of interests, from sports to politics, it is not easy to always engage them in non-fiction reading and discussions. Even more, it is crucial that we provide these learners with a deeper look into our topics of study, engage them at all times, and assist them in becoming more empowered in their learning.

With a TIME for Kids subscription, addressing the Common Core State Standards will be way more engaging!

Each week third grade students will be motivated to read real-world topics they love to learn about. They will build their reading and writing skills by responding to articles, offering insightful opinions and solutions, and even hosting classroom debates on controversial topics!
