Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are eager, enthusiastic, and passionate about reading. They have very imaginative minds. Sometimes in class discussions during our reading instruction period, we get lost in depth. My students love to ask questions and hold engaging dialogues, especially, when discussing book characters.
My class loves to read, and they even challenge each other.
They get lost in reading, which sometimes means that I have to pull them back into the real world. Sharing is even something we practice in class. When one student is finished reading a good book, they recommend it and lend it to another student.
My Project
Having access to all types of literary print, allows students minds to expand. In Second grade, we delve deep into different genres of reading. Scholastic News will help my students to learn about non fiction, text features, and many other components. Exposure to different genres helps increase those curious minds, which will enhance their love of reading. Having topics in science and social studies , will make learning exciting by crossing disciplines. By incorporating Scholastic News into my classroom, my students will be able to learn about new non fiction topics, that connect them to the world around them, and have fun while doing it.
