My students need these books to learn about real life situations. These books will help improve our reading scores & reading abilities. These books interest my students
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are hungry, not only for the food in the cafeteria, but for the lessons in their books. These books bring the issues from the real world to life and allow them to understand what is going on in the world.
My students are seventh graders.
Our school is a very low income and low poverty school. The school that I teach has 7th and 8th graders in our building. We have a diverse range of students in our building with a large range of abilities and skills.
My Project
With the books, I am asking for to use in my classroom, my students will complete literature circles with them. They will work on their reading abilities, reading aloud, reading jobs as well as preparing a project for a gallery walk from other teachers and staff members in the building. During this gallery walk teachers, administrators and other students will critique and give suggestions and positive feedback to the students on the projects.
The donations for this project will help improve a variety of things in my classroom.
It will help improve reading abilities, team work as well as working together to complete a common goal. Teaching students about what is going on in the world and relating it to what we are doing in class makes it hit home for our students. It allows them to actually see what we are learning and apply it to their lives or other people's lives.
