Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our class consists of 4th and 5th grade gifted students. It's important to provide them with constant resources to learn from. Using the same textbooks over and over again in class can become a bit mundane to them. I always want to foster a love a learning, so, I need help to provide them a subscription to a few publications.
Please help me provide subscriptions to texts geared towards reading and science to help boost their knowledge about the world around them.
Each publication comes with lessons, digital resources, projects, and online access so parents can read them with their children at home. One publication, Storyworks, is geared towards reading and contains a variety of articles and stories from different genres. It even talks about current events and provides opportunities for debates and opinion writing. The other two publications (SuperSTEM and Science Spin) are geared towards science and STEM. These two contain articles that help remind students about the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics that go into everyday life. These even come with their own STEM projects that correlate with what was discussed in each issue.
I remember being so excited when I would get my magazine subscriptions delivered to my house every month. In this digital age, it's easy to get used to instant gratification when things are at your fingertips. I hope these subscriptions will be something my students will look forward to each month and learn new things about our ever-changing world.
